TRENTON -- Donald Lloyd Wimer, 68, died Wednesday (Aug. 3, 2005), at the El Dorado Manor Home in Trenton.
He was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Rawlins County to Henry and Nellie (Olson) Wimer. He grew up on the family farm south of Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean conflict.
On Nov. 17, 1960, he married Dorothy "Dottie" Lyman at Cheyenne, Wyo. They made their home in Denver, Colo., until returning to farm southwest of Culbertson in 1963. They farmed there until September 2000 when they moved to El Dorado Manor. Dottie preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2004.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stratton; the Masonic Lodge No. 173 at Stratton. and the Order of Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dottie.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Smith of Hastings; a son, David H. and wife, Carol Wimer of Trenton; a brother, Lavern and wife, Wanda Wimer of Polk; a sister, Virginia McCasland of McCook; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Stratton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Inurnment, with military honors, will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton.
Friends may sign his register Saturday at Herrmann Funeral Home in Trenton or at the service.
