Thresher show

Sparks light up the night sky at the antique thresher show last year in Bird City. The 2005 show opens with a community potluck meal Wednesday, at 6 p.m. and Thursday, Friday and Saturday start with parades of farm and harvest equipment at 10:45 a.m. and parades of antique cars, steam engines and antique tractors each day at 1:15 p.m. An old-fashioned "literary," is planned Thursday at 7 p.m., the Pearce Family of Wallace entertains Friday at 7 p.m., the McDonald Lions Club plans a barbecue Saturday, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and the closing-ceremony tractor pull starts at 6:30 p.m. Tractor owners wanting to enter the competition must be on the grounds at 4:30 p.m. Church services are scheduled Sunday, at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The swap meet is open each day from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
