RUSSELL, Kan. -- Raymond B. Ritter, 83, died Friday (July 22, 2005) at Russell Regional Hospital.

He was born Nov. 20, 1921, at Dresden, to Bernard and Philomena (Kruse) Ritter. He was raised in the Dresden area and received his education at Leoville.

On Aug. 6, 1955, he married Bernadine Colling at McCook. He farmed for approximately 40 years on a farm southwest of Oberlin. He moved to Russell 10 years ago.

He was a member of the School District No. 294 Board of Education; St. Mary's Catholic Church in Russell and was a former member of Sacred Heart Church and the Sacred Heart Church Council in Oberlin. He was a 4th degree member of the Oberlin Knights of Columbus Council No. 5387.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Dennis, Seraphim and Cletus Ritter.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadine of Russell; five daughters, Marie and husband, Jim Bloss of Seattle, Wash., Ramona and husband, Greg Cook of Russell, Delores Healey of Maple Hill, Kan., Rose Cisneros of DeSoto, Kan. and Catherine Ritter of Russell; three brothers, Francis and wife, Pauline Ritter, Sylvester and wife, Catherine Ritter, all of Dresden, and Victor Ritter of Jennings, Kan.; four sisters, Florence Thompson of Hoxie, Sister Dolores Ritter of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Alfreda and husband, Dick Colling of McCook, and Bernadine and husband, Don Spresser of Leoville; one sister-in-law, Alberta Ritter of rural Oberlin; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Russell with the Revs. Charles Steier and James Grennan officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Russell.

The rosary will be said today, 7:30 p.m., at Pohlman-Heise Mortuary in Russell.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m.

Masses may be given in his memory or memorials may be directed to the Raymond Ritter memorial fund which will be designated later by the family.
