Lester R. Ketterl, 84, died Tuesday (July 19, 2005), at the Willow Ridge Retirement Community in McCook.
He was born May 28, 1921, to Louis and Katherine Ketterl. He spent his childhood near Herndon where he attended a country grade school. He graduated from Herndon High School in 1939.
On Nov. 20, 1945, he married Ruth Wolfram. She preceded him in death July 29, 1984. He made his living as a farmer and dairyman until his retirement in 1982. He moved to Willow Ridge in March 2000.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; a granddaughter, Amber R. Ketterl; two brothers, Lavern and Clarence; and a sister, Margaret Riener.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna R. and husband, Michael Christen of Merna; a son, Bernard L. and wife, Laurie Ketterl of Eagle; a sister, Helen Kleidosty of Atwood; fivegrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 5 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood and will continue at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon from 7:30-9 p.m.
