ATWOOD -- Darlene May (Wicke) Phelps, 65, died Saturday (July 9, 2005) in Denver, Colo.

She was born May 2, 1940, to Clarence and Esther (Neuhart) Wicke at their rural home north of Blakeman, Kan. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church north of Ludell, Kan. She graduated from Atwood High School.

She married David Phelps on Sept. 16, 1961, at Grace Lutheran Church. She was employed at Bellamy Drug and later Currier Drug from 1957 until 1998.

Survivors include her husband, Dave; her son, Daren of Castle Rock, Colo.; her daughter, Darla Lundberg and husband, Dan of Chapman, Kan.; brother, Wayne Wicke of Atwood; sister, Fay Ann Barenberg and husband, Eldon of McCook; and two grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Atwood, with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment will follow at Atwood Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, Atwood.

Memorials are being accepted in her name at the church or the charity of the donor's choice.
