David John Evans, 69, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born June 8, 1936, in Stratton to John R. and Clara Maime (Marquissee) Evans.
David grew up in Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He married Dorothy Lucille Smith on Feb. 20, 1961, at Pierre, S.D.
They have three children, James John, Penny, and Shannon.
David was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church.
He worked as a salesman for Frito-Lay for 35 years. He loved his children and grandchildren and trap shooting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Cleo; and two sisters, Bonnie Bell (an infant) and Myrna Clifford.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of McCook; son, James John Evans of McCook; two daughters, Penny Staley of Denver, Colo., and Shannon Woitaszewski and husband, Randy of McCook; an aunt, Marianne Ogorzolka and husband, Don of Indianola; six grandchildren, Shelby, Kelsey, Rebecca, Hali, John, and Christian; one niece, Sherri and husband, Mark Uerling of McCook; four nephews, Mark Clifford and wife, Deb, and Scott Clifford of Hayes Center, Bill Clifford and wife, Lesa of Kearney, and Dennis Clifford and wife, Jane of Lincoln; cousins Ron and Linda Gerdes of Spring, Texas, and Rod and Deb Gerdes of Horton, Kan.
Memorials may be given to the Shriners Crippled Children's Fund.
There will be no service, however, friends may greet the family at Carpenter Breland Funeral home (please use south door on "C" Street) Tuesday from 4-6 p.m.
