McCook Rebels

12 and under

squad 4th

at state tourney

HASTINGS -- The McCook Rebels 12 and under girls fastpitch softball team placed fourth place in Hastings at the Class A state tournament last weekend.

The Rebels came back in the bottom of the fifth inning to capture their first win at state against the Norfolk Golden Girls.

Rebels 6,

Norfolk Golden Girls 5

Einspahr and Holthus each singled and Bieker had two singles. Gillen singled, doubled and had two RBIs.

Premer and Green each had a RBI. Bieker posted three strikeouts, six walks and allowed five hits.

Seward Jazz 5, Rebels 0

Carfield singled and Holthus had two singles. Gillenposted four strikeouts, three walks and allowed three hits.

Rebels 4,

Lincoln Rockets 2

Carfield singled, Gillen doubled, Premer singled and doubled and Eisnpahr had a RBI.

Bieker posted four strikeouts, allowed one walk and had two hits.

Gothenburg Angels 3, Rebels 1

Carfield, Einspahr both singled. Burkey had a single and a RBI, Gillen doubled and Premer had two singles.

Gillen recorded five strikeouts, three walks and allowed four hits.

"We are really proud of the girls, you could tell that they were nervous the first game, but they fought back and scored five runs in the last inning to win the game. They had a great season with 32 wins and 12 losses all but one loss from Class A teams and two ties," said coach Lance Gillen.
