Journal-Star honors multi-sport standouts Vontz, Noyes, Billeter

LINCOLN -- Waid Vontz of Cambridge, Savannah Noyes of Southwest and Drew Billeter of Loomis have been named on a list of Multi-Sport honorees by the Lincoln Journal-Star in the Sunday, June 5 edition.

Waid Vontz, a 6-foot-3 senior-to-be, was a Class C-2 all-state quarterback for a second year and the only returning offensive starter from the state championship team. He led the Trojans to a 6-3 mark.

Vontz averaged 23.1 points and 7.2 rebounds a game in basketball and was a first-team D-1 all-state.

After making the Class C-2 first team as a junior, he helped the Trojans to a 17-8 record.

Vontz has also won the Class C-2 individual title at the state golf tournament.

Noyes, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker/hitter, will be playing volleyball at the University of Kansas next fall.

She led the Southwest Roughriders team to the state semifinals with a Class C-2 state-record with 39 kills in a first-round win.

Noyes broke four C-2 records in her career and had 22 kills in a state semifinal loss to Blue Hill to finish the season with 439 kills and 101 ace blocks.

In basketball, Noyes averaged 17 points per game and was honorable mention all-state.

Noyes qualified for state in the triple jump and competed in the long jump and ran on the 400 and 1,600 relays.

Billeter graduated from Loomis High School.

He was a first-team Class D-2 quarterback and threw for 2,442 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Billeter set a playoff record by throwing six touchdown passes.

In basketball, he was an honorary captain and first all-state for the second time averaging 19.7 points and 4.5 rebounds.

Billeter ran on the Wolves' third-place 3,200 meter relay and on the 400 relay that finished sixth.
