Christina Carolina Current, 91, of Curtis, Neb., died on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis.. She was born on Oct. 20, 1913, to Harry and Minnie (Max) Herman, east of Stockville,Neb., on her grandparents' homestead.

On Aug. 27, 1934, she married Ted Current in McCook. To this union three children were born. Ted and Christina spent may years farming in the Stockville area. They moved to Stockville and operated Current Grocery for nearly four years and then retired in Curtis.

Christina was a member of the Stockville Congregational Church, and quilted with the ladies.

Survivors include two daughters, Arlene Sass of Stockville

and Elaine Current of McCook; one son, Leonard (Diane) Current of Hershey; three grandsons. J (Connie) Herrick of Fort Lupton, Colo., Steve Herrick of Omaha and Wylie Current of Hershey; two great grandsons, Christopher Herrick of Iraq and wife Lynn of Columbus, Ga., and Terence Herrick of Omaha; one great-granddaughter: Teresa (Paul) Farrer of Brighton, Colo.; three great-great-grandchildren, Maddax and Katie Farrer of Brighton, Colo. and Savannah Herrick of Columbus, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Artis (Thorval) Hansen, Marilyn (Byron) Brown, Ron Herman. Marian McKinley, Twila (Darrel) Saloga, Jean Awtry. Charles (Ann) Current, Lloyd Simmons; one aunt, Carrie Max ; and many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Ted (Sept. 1, 1976); brother George and his wife Eva Herman; sister Flora Herman; grand-daughter Zalia Mae Herrick; great-grand-daughter Katie Jo Herrick; nephews Marion "Cork" Herman, Jim Current and Ted Awtry; nieces Jean Current and Carol Simmons; brothers and sister-in-laws Lew and Zalia Awtry and Charles and Katheryne Current.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005, 10:30 a.m. with Pastor George Probasco officiating.

Burial will be in the Arbor Cemetery, Stockville, Neb.

Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.

Memorials may go to Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis or the Stockville Congregational Church.
