COLORADO -- Richard Homer Anderson, 78, died Tuesday (May 17, 2005), in Colorado.
He was born in McCook, Oct. 25, 1926, to George Dustin and Beatrice Zyola (Snyder) Anderson. His sister, Margaret Irene (Olson) was born on Sept. 19, 1931. He attended school in McCook, and graduated high school in 1944. He then entered the U.S. Navy and served as a seabee for two years. After his discharge from the Navy, he attended McCook Junior College for two years.
He married La-Vaughn Beth Rhodes on June 30, 1947. On Oct. 8, 1948, their daughter Susan Diane was born. In 1948, his train service with the Chicago Burlington and Quincy (B.N.S.F.) railroad began. On Dec. 18, 1950, their son George Richard was born. He was a Locomotive Fireman and Engineer until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of the United Transportation Union.
Preceding him in death were his wife, LaVaughn; his parents; and his sister Margaret Irene.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan, and one son, George of McCook, and three grandsons.
