MCC baseball season concludes with Region IX loss
LAMAR, Colo. -- The season came to a close for the McCook Community College baseball team with a 10-1 loss Thursday to Western Nebraska in a qualification game at the NJCAA Region IX Tournament.
The tournament is being hosted by No. 1 seed Lamar (Colo.) Community College.
The Indians finished the season with a 27-30 record under second-year coach Jeremy Jorgensen.
The 27 victories by MCC is two more wins than the previous three seasons combined. The Indians finished 7-44 in 2004, 7-42 in 2003 and 11-37 in 2002 -- the first year of the program.
Second-seeded Northeastern Junior College advanced to the Region IX finals with a 4-2 win against Otero Junior College.
Lamar and Northeastern play at 3 p.m. CT Monday.
Lamar pinned a 9-7 defeat on Western Nebraska Sunday. Lamar played its third game in 24 hours.
Western Nebraska defeated Trinidad State Junior College 4-2 Thursday night.
In Friday's late game, Otero eliminated Trinidad 8-7.
