HAYES CENTER -- Bertha Kutz, 81, died Tuesday (May 10, 2005), at the Chase County Hospital of Imperial.
She was born Jan. 20, 1924, to Emanuel and Anna (Burnenheide) Klumpe at Olpe, Kan. As a young girl, she grew up and attended Catholic Parochial School in Olpe, graduating in 1942. She then traveled to Wichita, where she was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company assisting in the production of bombers during World War II.
She married Walter A. Kutz, Sept. 11, 1946, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Benkelman. The couple settled on a farm southest of Benkelman then moved to a farm near Broomfield, Colo. In 1955, they moved to Hayes Center.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herman; and two sisters, Leona and Catherine.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; one brother, Marvin Klumpe, and wife, Sylvia, of Madison, Kan.; one sister, Arlene, and husband, Dwight Williams, of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will celebrated Friday, 10 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Curtis with the Rev. Boehme officiating.
The rosary will be today at 7 p.m. at the St. James Catholic Church in Curtis.
A memorial has been established to St. James Catholic Church of Curtis.
There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
