OBERLIN -- James "Jim" Bricker, 64, died Wednesday (May 11, 2005), at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born Feb. 12, 1941, to Robert and Bertha (Bank) Bricker, at Russell. He attended Lucas Grade and High School and graduated in 1959.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He married Jan Cochran in Oberlin on Nov. 27, 1966. They lived in Lucas until 1978 when they moved to Oberlin. He was a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Oberlin American Legion Post No. 70, and the Ellsworth Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bricker; and one sister, Janey Goff.
Survivors include his mother, Bertha Bricker of Lucas; wife, Jan Bricker, of Oberlin; one son, Mark Bricker, of Oberlin; one daughter, Carey and husband, Patrick Kennedy, of Topeka; two brothers, Bob Bricker and wife Hulda, of Ellsworth, and Dave Bricker and wife, Cindy, of Lucas; one sister, Lillian and husband, Johnny Lawrence, of Dorrance, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Henke, of Manhattan, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Charlotte Strecker-Baseler officiating. Internment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Oberlin and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to the Decatur County Hospital or the Lucas High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.
