ARAPAHOE -- Victor C.W. Haussler, 84, died Thursday (May 5, 2005) at his home in Arapahoe.
He was born Aug. 25, 1920 in Furnas County to August and Anna (Mues) Haussler. He attended country school at St. Matthew's Parocial School. After school he worked for other farmers in the area until enlisting in the U.S. Army on Aug. 21, 1942.
He served during World War II and was discharged on Dec. 27, 1945.
After completing his service duty, he returned to Arapahoe to farm.
On Dec. 27, 1948, he married Audre E. Menze at Minden. They made their home on the family farm north and west of Arapahoe. In 1975 they moved into Arapahoe.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post No. 96, and Lion's Club, all of Arapahoe. He also served on F.H.A. Board and as a 4-H leader.
Survivors include his wife, Audre E. Haussler of Arapahoe; one son, Scott and wife Cindy Haussler of Arapahoe; one daughter, Jill and husband Bill Snyder of Arapahoe; one brother, Robert Haussler of Cambridge; one sister, Dorothy and husband Paul Fisher of Ogallala; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Jeff Ernstmeyeer officiating. Burial will be at St. Matthew's Cemetery in Holbrook. Military rites will be given by the American Legion Post No. 96 of Arapahoe.
Viewing and visitation will continue today until 8 p.m. at the Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, and prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
