ARAPAHOE -- Reva Rae Hockemeier, 68, of Holbrook, died Wednesday (May 4, 2005) at Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge.
She was born March 11, 1937, to Fred and Hazel (Wagner) Arehart in Dresden. She attended country school in Kansas and schools in Victor and Lodi, Calif. She attended Decatur County High School in Oberlin and graduated in 1955. She then worked as a dental nurse.
On Oct. 20, 1957, she married Norman Hockmeier at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin. The couple made their home in Holbrook. She spent many years babysitting, working in various cafes and she worked on the Holbrook election board.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. She worked with AAL, was a Sunday school teacher and Mission Mall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Hockmeier of Holbrook; son, Ken and wife, Ellen Hockmeier of Kearney; two daughters, Kristi and husband, Jerry Grint of Sargent and Karleen and husband, Larry Reynolds of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Betty Conner of Georgia, Francis Wagenman and Elaine Holck of California; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are Monday, 2 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating. Interment will be in Holbrook Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday, 1-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be given in her name to the American Cancer Society.
