NORTH PLATTE -- Two teams of McCook High School golfers competed at the North Platte Triangular Monday.

The nine-hole tournament, which also featured Ogallala, was played at the North Platte Country Club.

The Bison A team placed third in their division with a 185 score. North Platte was first with 155 and Ogallala was second with 168.

Matt Fulton fired a 44, followed by Aaron Goodenberger 46, Jack Latta 47, Mitch Hazlitt 48 and Lance Korte 51.

The other McCook squad placed second with a 188 score.

Eric Rippen led the Bison with a 43, followed by Tony Bieck 44, Justin Spector 49, Austin Korgan 52 and Zach Colburn 60.

"Overall, we played pretty consistent," said McCook boys golf coach Dan Hilton. "I would have liked to have seen lower scores from some of the kids, but a shot here or there cost most of them some strokes. Eric Rippen shot a nice round for us today (Monday) and Matt Fulton did so as well.

"Now we have to get down to business with conference meet coming this week (the GNAC meet is Friday at Hastings) and districts shortly thereafter. We have to get our six varsity players down in the range we will need to be effective in those meets. It is now just a matter of being confident and trusting the swing."
