HERNDON -- Harvey P. Stoney, 88, died Sunday (April 24, 2005) at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born June 14, 1916, to Stephen and Elizabeth (Barenberg) Stoney in Herndon.

On Jan. 18, 1944, he married Roseanna Eby in Atwood, Kan. He helped with many plumbing projects, carpentry or any other odd job. The family ran the Stoney Brothers Locker in Herndon for 15 years. After that he went to work for Oberlin Trailers and then in 1972 he went to work for the Rawlins County Road and Bridge until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Frank; and infant brother, Stephen.

Survivors include his wife, Roseanna of Herndon; four children, Lewis and wife, Suz of Herndon, Larry and wife, Deb of Herndon, Margaret and husband, Clarence Niermier of Ludell and Mary Ellen and husband, Randy Purdy of Elm Creek; 13 grandchildren and one on the way; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services were today, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center or a charity of choice and left at the funeral home.
