Charles F. Thompson, 95, died Thursday (April 21, 2005) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
He was born Dec. 11, 1909, to Charles Stanley and Amanda (Walters) Thompson at Indianola. He attended Indianola Public Schools and graduated in 1928. He also attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln from 1928 to 1930.
On Aug. 1, 1965, he married Agnes G. Wischert at Elkton, Md. She preceded him in death Feb. 26, 1990. He worked for almost 40 years in horse racing before retiring to Indianola in the late 1980's. He also worked for the Sears family and the DuPont family on the East coast for several years training their family race horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Agnes; two sisters, Edna Harrison and Angie Puelz.
Survivors include two step-sons, Donald Harrison of Inverness, Fla., and James Harrison of Baltimore, Md.
Graveside services will be in the Indianola Cemetery, Monday at 11 a.m., with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home. Friends may sign his book at the funeral home or may go on-line at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.
