George Henry Millard died Tuesday (April 19, 2005) at Willow Ridge Retirement Community. He was 90 years old.
He was born June 6, 1914 at Somerville, N.J., to Raymond D. and Jennie May (Amerman) Millard. He graduated from high school in Plainfield, N.J.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1946.
On July 23, 1957, he married Viola S. Stritt who preceded him in death on April 24, 2002. He lived in Denver, Colo., from 1946 -2000 when he moved to McCook.
He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, the American Legion, Amateur Radio Relay League and Tri-State Amateur Radio Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; his parents; and two brothers, John and Russell.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Vanarsdale of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers-in-law, Francis Broz of McCook, Henry Fossen of Indianola and Frankie Haag of Bartley; three sisters-in-law, Doris Millard of Fairfax, Vt., Alyce Mae Stritt and Mary Ann Stritt both of Indianola; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m., at the St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery.
Rosary will be Friday at 7 p.m at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with the Rev. Nicholas Baker officiating.
Visitation will be Friday 9 a.m.- 8 p.m., in McCook at the funeral home and Saturday morning at St. Catherine's Church in Indianola from 10 a.m -1 p.m.
Memorials are being accepted in his name.
