Leonard V. Wheeler, 50, died Monday (April 18, 2005) at his home in Beaver City.

He was born Sept. 4, 1954, in Thomas, Okla., to Ernest and Geneva (Kershner) Wheeler. He grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from high school in Colorado.

He moved to Beaver City in 1984 working for Sands and local farmers until 1993 when he was employed by the City of Beaver City. He retired for health reasons in 1997. He lived in Edison for a short time before returning to Beaver City.

On Sept. 4, 1999, he married Sharon Murphy in Beaver City.

He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Beaver City.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Cathy Wheeler.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Beaver City; mother, Geneva Wheeler of Beaver City; daughter, Crystal Wheeler of Grand Junction, Colo.; step-daughter, Christine and husband, Robert Leach of Beaver City; step-son, John Filiatrault of Beaver City; two brothers, Randy Wheeler and wife, Cathy of Edison and Tom Wheeler and wife, Kandi of Oxford; two sisters, Charlene and husband, Frank Campbell of Foxworth, Mich., and Sandy Smith of Edison.

Services are Thursday, 1:30 p.m., at Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Beaver City with the Revs. Marion Miller and James Nichols officiating. A private inurnment will be at Precept Cemetery in rural Beaver City.

Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City is in charge of the arrangements.
