OBERLIN -- LuVerne May, 78, died Wednesday (April 13, 2005) at the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.

She was born March 20, 1927, to Wilbert and Emma (Becker) Bode in Nicolette, Minn. She was raised in Dodge Center, Minn., and attended Dodge Center schools.

On April 9, 1950, she married Wilbur T. May in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. She was was a music teacher and church secretary. She lived in San Bruno, Chico and Gridley, Calif., before moving to Oberlin in 1997.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League for 30 years and Good Shepherd for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Marlin Bode.

Survivors include her husband, Wilbur T. May of Oberlin; sons, Jim and wife, Kay May of Oil City, La., and John and wife, Karen May of Lummi Island, Wash.; brothers, Orville Bode of Pine Island, Minn., and Allen Bode of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; sisters, Pearl Bode of Owatanna, Minn., and Evelyn and husband, Harold Heinlein of Fredricksburg, Va.; and one granddaughter.

Services were today at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Rick Langness officiating. Interment was in Oberlin Cemetery.

Memorials may be give to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin is in charge of the arrangements.
