OBERLIN -- Paul Skoda, 93, died Monday (March 28, 2005) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born Sept. 30, 1911, to Anthony and Mary (Skorepa) Skoda in Cleveland, Ohio. He was raised in Cleveland and graduated high school there. He attended Underwood Sunstrand School in Harrisburg, Pa.
He served in the Army during World War II.
On June 21, 1947, he married Maurine Bogary in Oberlin. He was a business owner and operator. He lived in McCook, Loveland, Colo., and Denison, Texas. He retired in 1983 and moved back to Oberlin.
He was a member of the United Church of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Loretta Skoda; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Elmer Anderson; and son-in-law, Frank Geer.
Survivors include his wife, Maurine Skoda of Oberlin; Larry Skoda and wife, Paula of Rosenberg, Texas; Diane Geer of Denison, Texas; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Interment will be in Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m., until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the United Church of Oberlin.
