EUSTIS -- Robert "Bob" Allen, age 74 of Eustis, died Tuesday (March 22, 2005) at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Aug. 8, 1930, at Cambridge to Jack and Dorothy Lyle Allen. He attended rural schools in Furnas and Frontier Counties.
He served in the U. S. Armed Forces in Korea and Japan from 1950 to 1953.
On Nov. 8, 1953, he married Georgia Merrill. They made their home in South Dakota and several Nebraska communities, where he was employed in farm work. They resided at Cozad, where he was employed at Monroe Auto Equipment Co. In 1970, the couple moved to Eustis. He was employed in the maintenance department in Frontier County, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rory; an infant grandson, and two brothers, Jimmie and Gerald.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia of Eustis; a son, Robert, Jr. and wife, Iris Allen of Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Gail and husband, Von Jurjens of Eustis and Gaye and husband, Carl Kraft of Cozad; two brothers, Don Allen of Richardson, Texas and Gale and wife, Janice Allen of Oxford; nine grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Eustis with the Rev. Bonnie Linton-Hendrick officiating. Burial will be at the East Cemetery at Eustis.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Eustis.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or the Cancer Fund in his memory.
