CURTIS -- Theresa M. Towne, 83, of Curtis, NE died March 20, 2005 at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1921, in Wellfleet to Harrison & Bertha (Gerken) Damoude. She graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture of Curtis in 1940.

After graduation she lived and worked in Oregon.

On Sept. 25, 1956, she married Melvin M. Towne. The couple farmed west of Curtis.

She was an active leader in the 4-H and served on the Frontier County Extension Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Melvin on Jan. 12, 2005; one sister Thelma Coffey; and two brothers, Harrison and Harold.

Survivors include one son, Mark and wife, Tammy Towne of Curtis; two daughters, Roxanne Towne of Glendale, Ariz., and Janice and husband, Bob Sedlak of Broomfield, Colo.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister,Velma and husband, Darrell Kugler of Tacoma, Wash.

Services are Thursday, 2 p.m., with the Rev. Kevin Burkhardt officiating. Burial is in the Curtis Cemetery, Curtis.

Visitation is today 1-9 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.

Memorials may be given to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
