BENKELMAN -- Wilbur J. Reiman, 80, of Benkelman, died Sunday (March 20, 2005) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born on the family farm northeast of Benkelman to Charles and Sophia (Reining) Reiman and attended country school near his home in District 18.
After school, he was employed by various farmers throughout the area. He also worked on several harvest crews. Around 1958, Wilbur gained employment with Burlington Northern Railroad as a section hand and machine operator.
On Feb. 13, 1971, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Hisey at Benkelman and to this union, a daughter, Ann, was born. After retiring from the railroad in 1987, he spent his time helping area farmers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sophia Reiman; brothers, Bernard and Eugene Reiman.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Reiman; his daughter, Ann, both of Benkelman; brothers, Gilbert Reiman and wife, Arlene of Benkelman, Charles Reiman and wife, Shirley of Wray, Colo., Robert Reiman and wife, Phyllis of Essex, England, Jim Reiman and wife, Benita from Akron, Colo., John Reiman of Salina, Kan.; sisters, Evelyn Vig of Casper, Wyo., Patricia Hays of Palmer and Catherine Reiman of Benkelman.
Visitation is today, from 1-5 p.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman.
A Rosary will be recited Monday, 9 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benkelman.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sean Redmond officiating. Interment will follow services at the Benkelman Cemetery.
