SIDNEY -- Maxine Leone Heldenbrand, 86, died Wednesday (March 9, 2005) in Sidney.

She was born July 25, 1918, to Grace and Orland Weesner on a farm near Dunning. She attended elementary school in Broken Bow and junior and senior high school in North Platte.

On Feb. 25, 1936, she married Frederick W. Heldenbrand in Holyoke, Colo. The family moved to Wauneta in 1947, where they operated a dry cleaning business. She also worked at the Enders Cub Restaurant and operated a Wards Catalog business out of her home.

She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for several years and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Orland Weesner; step-father, Bill Gerbig; husband, Fred; brothers, Kenneth, Gayle and Laverne; and sisters, Aubrey, Mildred and Myrtle.

Survivors include her children, Rodney and Pat of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Tom and Norma of Jacksonville, Fla., Rick and Jolene of Chappel and Kathy and Duane Jorgensen of Bassett; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Marcella Harper of Phoenix, Ariz., and Marthena Devore of Denver, Colo.

Services are Monday at Carpenters Funeral Home in North Platte and interment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.
