NORTH PLATTE -- Justin Michael Sis, 26, of North Platte, died Wednesday (March 2, 2005) in York County as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born Aug. 15, 1978, at Rawlins County Hospital in Atwood to Vincent and Melissa (Ross) Sis. He was the oldest of two sons. He attended elementary school at Stratton Public Schools and was a member of the Stratton High School graduating class of 1997.
He worked at various jobs, including lifeguard and swim instructor at both the Stratton Public Pool and McCook YMCA. He later worked for Carhart Lumber in North Platte. He most recently at the North Platte Opportunity Center where he worked with disabled adults.
He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 219 in Stratton where he received his life rank, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a lifetime member of FCSLA (formerly the Catholic Workman).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Daisy Sis and Sterling Ross; uncles, Bernard Sis, Albert Sis, and Ron Boardman; aunt, Beatrice Schumer; and cousin, Leonard Schumer.
Justin is survived by his parents, Vincent and Melissa Sis of Stratton; his fiancÚ, Tasha Chilcott of North Platte; son, Ainsley of North Platte; brother, Joel Sis of Stratton; and grandmother, June Ross of Nehawka.
Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton with the Rev. Sean Redmond officiating. Interment will follow services at St. John Cemetery in Rawlins County following a fellowship meal at the church. Visitation is today, from 1-5 p.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel in Stratton. A vigil for the deceased (rosary) will be recited today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton at 7:30 p.m.
