OBERLIN -- Genevieve H. Erickson, 94, died Sunday (Feb. 27, 2005) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
She was born Aug. 27, 1910, to Carl and Mabel (Swift) Pittman in Plainville, Kan. She attended school in Plainville and graduated in 1928 from Oberlin High School. She then taught school in Rawlins, Rooks and Ellis Counties in Kansas.
On Jan. 1, 1933, she married Elof C. Erickson in Hill City, Kan. The couple lived on a farm in Rawlins County. She was a homemaker. She moved to Oberlin in 1982.
She was a member of the Herndon Covenant Church, Ladies Aid Group, Garden Club and Golden Rule.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elof on Oct. 30, 1944; brother, Kenneth Pittman; and sister, Margaret Buell.
Survivors include her sons, Phillip Erickson, Gary Erickson and wife, Mary Ann, all of Oberlin, and Ronald and wife, Marlene Erickson of Rexford; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Herndon Covenant Church with the Rev. Keith Reuther officiating. Interment will be in Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Wednesday 9 a.m., until service time at the church.
Memorials may be give to the Herndon Covenant Church.
