ATWOOD -- Hugh Richard Amann, 83, died Saturday (Feb. 26, 2005) at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.
He was born March 17, 1921, to John Richard and Sylvia M (Hileman) in Red Willow County. He attended District 8 School. He graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis in 1940. He then helped on the farm.
In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and served until February 1945, when he was discharged as a staff sergeant. During this time he graduated from both aircraft mechanics and as a ball turret gunner.
On June 17, 1951, he married LaVerna Riley.
He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Max Amann.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerna; one brother, Dale of Long Beach, Calif.; sister-in-law, Margaret Amann of Cambridge; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Lolita and Jerry Biehl of Lexington, Lynn and Sharon Riley of North Platte and Linda and Gary Wooters of Ponca City, Okla.
Services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the United Church of Christ in Trenton with the Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in Trenton Cemetery in Trenton.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and Tuesday 9-11 a.m., at Brantley Funeral Home in Atwood.
Memorials can be given to the United Church of Christ.
