ARAPAHOE -- Norman D. Kinder, 75, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2005) at his home south of Holbrook.
He was born Nov. 23, 1929, to Charles and Violet (Steuber) Kinder in Cambridge. He attended country school south of Holbrook. He graduated in 1947 from Cambridge High School.
After school he worked construction and farm jobs until enlisting in the Army in 1951. After completing his service duty he returned to Holbrook to farm.
On April 14, 1957, he married Arliss Brown at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe. The couple made their home on the family farm in Holbrook. He also worked for Henry Farms and Nebraska Pork Producers of Arapahoe.
He was a member of the Lion's Club and VFW Post No. 9357, both of Holbrook, and the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe, where he served as trustee for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Arliss Kinder of Holbrook; son, Duane Edward and wife, Cathy Kinder of Broken Bow; two daughters, Valerie Sue and husband, Alex Difuntorum of Lincoln and Daralis Reneee Williams of Lee Summit, Mo.; sister, Nancy and husband, Vaughn Barnett of Cambridge; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are Tuesday, 1:30 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Hyeongdong Baek officiating. Interment will be in Arapahoe Cemetery with military rites by the VFW Post No. 9357 of Holbrook.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to services Tuesday at the church.
