HERNDON -- John Francis Green, 77, died Monday (Feb. 21, 2005) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born April 18, 1927, on a farm north of Herndon to Bernard H. Green and Elizabeth Unger Green. He attended St. Mary's grade school.
On Feb. 9, 1963, he married Helen Schmaderer at Sacred Heart Church in Atwood. He was a farmer.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus since March 1, 1947.,
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; two brothers, Bernard P. and Leo J. Green; father-in-law, Aloys Schmaderer and wife, Katherin; and sister-in-law, Josephine Schmaderer.
Survivors include a brother, Joe D. Green and wife, Nadine of Herndon; two sisters, Marcelline Zwickle of Maywood, Sister Cecilia Green of Concordia, Kan.; brothers-in-law, Joe Schmaderer of Ludell and Al Schmaderer and wife, Marlene of Manhattan, Kan.; and two sisters-in-law, Delores and husband Carl Mumm of Selden and Marianna Thomas of Colby, Kan.
Mass of Christian burial is Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Herndon with the Rev. Dana Clark of Colby officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Herndon.
A parish vigil and rosary is Thursday, 7 p.m., at the church.
Visitation is Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home of Atwood and after 6 p.m., at the church.
Memorials may be given to the St. Mary's Roof Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
