Virginia M. Lyle died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 87.
She was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Omaha, the daughter of the late Earl and Anna C. (Christensen) Brown. She grew up in Omaha and graduated from South High School and attended Omaha Business School.
She began working for North Western Bell Telephone as a comptroller. On Feb. 19, 1949, Virginia married Joseph John Lyle at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They came to McCook in 1957, where her husband was a dealer for John Deere from 1963 to 1970. For several years she worked at TRW in McCook.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church and the BPO Does.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe on June 27, 1980 and an infant granddaughter, Kendra Budke. Two brothers, Roy Brown and John Brown, and one sister, Pearl Fredricksen are also deceased.
Virginia is survived by one daughter, Leigh Ann Miller and husband Kelvin; and one grandson Tyler Budke, all of McCook; sister-in-law Evelyn Brown of Hamilton, Ohio; nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Congregational Church in McCook with Pastor Phil Ewert officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook. Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
