MAYWOOD -- Ula Rebecca Wood, 86, of Maywood, died Sunday (Feb. 13, 2005) at Community Hospital of McCook.
She was born Aug. 15, 1918, to Morgan Downing and Ada Belle Staples Smith in White. She grew up on the farm and attended country school.
On Aug. 29, 1940, she married Lloyd Franklin Wood in North Platte. The couple moved southwest of Maywood.
She was a member of the Maywood Christian Church and the Willing Workers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; two sisters, Elva Mink and infant, Alta Mae Smith; and two brothers, G. Melvin Smith and Joseph D. "Junior" Smith.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynda and husband, Bill Griffin of Tucumcari, N.M.; three sons, Leslie and wife, Carole Wood of Maywood, Loren Wood of Central City and Lonnie and wife, Maureen Wood of McCook; three sisters, Phyllis and husband, Dale Brush of Hayes Center, Oma Refior of Lexington and Audrey and husband, Terry Schultz of Manor, Texas; brother, Herschel and wife, Barbara Smith of Peoria, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Audrey Smith of North Platte, Caroline Wood of Curtis and Leora Wood of North Platte.
Services are Thursday, 2 p.m., at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. Dale Heimer of Maywood Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is today and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m., at the funeral chapel and Thursday before services.
