NORTON, Kan. -- Imojean Hoyt, 79, died Friday (Feb. 11, 2005) at the Andbe Home in Norton.
She was born July 12, 1925, to Harold Eugene and Golda Mary (Heller) Hoyt in Good Hope, Kan. She attended the Aurora District No. 8 rural grade school and Clayton High School.
On Aug. 22, 1946, she married Kenneth Hoyt in Pendelton, Ore. The couple made their home in Oregon until 1960, when they moved back to Kansas. They also lived in Nebraska, Texas, South and North Dakota, New Mexico, Idaho, Washington, Arizona and Utah. In 1985, they returned to Kansas.
She was a member of the Norton Church of God and had been a Sunday school teacher. She served as the President of the VFW Auxiliary and chairperson for the Red Cross Blood Drive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vanetta Olson and Phyllis Dewey; parents-in-law, Adelbert and Eunice Hoyt; four brothers-in-law, Herbert, Adelbert and Donald Hoyt and Duane Dewey; and three sisters-in-law, Mary, Florabelle and Myrtle Louise.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Norton; two sons, Steven Hoyt of Norton and Scott Hoyt of McCook; two brothers, Phillip and wife, Mildred Hager of Gaylord, Kan., and Ronald and wife, Helen Hager of Edmond, Kan.; three sisters, Gladys and husband, Don Everett of Milton-Freewater, Ore., Dori and husband, Lee Strayer of Union, Ore., and Mary and husband, Jon Youngquist of Beaver City; two brothers-in-law, Daryl Olson of Norton and Frank Hoyt of Union, Ore.; three sisters-in-law, Emma Hoyt of Union, Chris Hoyt of Moro, Ore., and Lola May Bennett of Walla Walla, Wash.; and one granddaughter.
Services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Enfield Funeral Home in Norton. Interment will be in Norton Cemetery in Norton.
Memorials may be given to the Church of God.
