Lyle Dymond Sawyer, 56, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005.
Born Oct. 4, 1948, in Baltimore, Md. He moved with his family to Upland in 1956 where he resided until graduating from Upland High School with top honors in 1966. He attended Kearney State College in Kearney for two years and left for Piney Point Seamen's School in Piney Point, Md. He was a Merchant Marine for several years prior to relocating to Houston, Texas where he attended Manpower Business School. In 1972 he returned to Nebraska and he married Sylvia Keen at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minden on Jan. 14, 1973. He was a yard clerk (support services) for Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad for 31 years. He worked in the Southwest Nebraska area with the railroad. Lyle was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 32 years Sylvia Louise (Keen); his daughter, Chelsea Dawn Johnson and her husband Timothy of Kansas City, Mo; his son J.R. Dymond Sawyer and his wife Jennifer (Jones) of Goose Creek, S.C.; his son Kaleb Alexander Sawyer and fiance Melissa Dodson of Forth Worth, Texas. Lyle is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Elysa, Daymond, Reilland, Ireland Sawyer and Cole Johnson.
A private memorial service was Thursday, Jan. 27 at his home in Fort Worth. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Forest Ridge Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas was in charge of arrangements.
