OBERLIN -- Irvan Frank Courange, 81, died Saturday (Feb. 5, 2005) at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.

He was born Jan. 21, 1924, to Joe and Mary (Dernel) Courange in Beaver, Kan. He was raised in Hoisington.

He entered the Army and served in World War II.

On March 18, 1961, he married Maralyn Magers in McCook. He had lived in McCook, Bakersfield and Buena Park, Calif., Oberlin and Traer. He was employed in oil field work.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon.

he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul and Victor Courange; and sisters, Marjorie Cooper and Irene Green.

Survivors include his wife, Maralyn; two sons, Rocky Courange and Clayton Courange, both of Oberlin; two step-sons, Bradford Ware of Gettysburg, S.D., and Kirk Ware of Oberlin; daughter, Kelly and Dan Brown of Oberlin; brothers, Clarence and Faye Courange of Laverne, Okla., Joe Courange of Canadian, Texas, Jim Courange of Hoisington and Eugene and Frances Courange of Pratt; sisters, Mary Ann Ash of Canadian, Texas, Victoria and husband, Glenn Hubbarb of Vernal, Utah, Joanne Torrez and Helen Klein, both of Hoisington; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be in Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Thursday, 8 a.m., until service time at the church in Herndon.

The vigil is Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., at the funeral home in Oberlin.

Memorials may be given to the Irvan Courange Memorial Fund.
