GARDEN CITY, Kan. -- Floye Elizabeth "Betty" Ellis, 82, died Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2005) at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kan.
She was born June 11, 1922, to Fred and Flora (Bryan) Strohwig in Norton, Kan. She was raised in Selden and graduated from Selden High School in 1939. She attended Fort Hays State and Kansas University.
On Oct. 20, 1946, she married Frank Ellis in Oberlin. She was a medical records secretary at Decatur County Hospital. She moved to Garden City in 1990.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Garden City, Eastern Star Monday Evening Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank in 1971; infant daughter, Ruth Ann; and brother, Frank Strohwig.
Survivors include her son, Chuck Ellis and wife, Becky of Scott City, Kan.; daughter, Nancy Woods and husband, Chad of Garden City; and three grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, 11 a.m., at the United Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Dave Sweley officiating. Interment will be in Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m, at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Saturday until service time at the church.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Oberlin Library.
