BROKEN BOW -- The McCook High School wrestling team lost a dual at Broken Bow Thursday 47-22.

McCook's varsity and junior varsity wrestlers compete at the Lexington Invitational Saturday.

The JV competition starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the varsity meet at 10 a.m.

McCook actually won five of the nine matches that took place at Broken Bow.

"We are a little banged up at some weights forcing us to give up five forfeits from the start," said McCook coach Nick Umscheid.

"However the wrestlers who did compete did very well. We had some very close matches in the wons that we lost.

"A couple of our wrestlers sacrificed themselves by moving up a weight class for the team and did an excellent job.

"This was a good warm up for a very tough Lexington Invite for Saturday.

"We are going to have everybody wrestling at their best on Saturday in order to place where we ought to, but I am sure the guys are up for the challenge and excited to show what the can do against some of the top competition in the state."
