Dundy County High School senior Emily Hudson signed with North Platte Community College.

McConville was a two-year starter and setter for the Southwest Roughriders' volleyball team during the past two seasons.

"She has been a key player in the success we have had, she made great strides in being able to run the quicks, shoots, and slides this past season," said Southwest coach Dennis Troester.

"Brittany also led our team in ace serves along with being a leader in digs."

McConville had 50 ace serves. 691 assists, 108 digs and 6 blocks.

She was selected as First Team All Conference, Gazette All Area Team and honorable mention All-State

North Platte coach Sally Thalken said she is glad to sign a player with Hudson's abilities.

"I'm excited about Emily being a part of our program," Thalken said.

"She will have to work hard as will all of our players. The athletic scholarship will be offered to Emily for two years."

Hudson played on the 2003 Dundy County team that was one of three Nebraska High School volleyball teams to receive an AVCA Academic Award.

Hudson has the school record for most ace serves in a season (66).

"Emily is a great kid and we will miss her playing for DCHS but she deserves a shot at the next level and I think she will do just fine," said Dundy County volleyball coach Bill Wilson.

"Emily has a lot of potential and I know whe will work hard to make herself an even better player."

Hudson will probably play a middle or right-side hitter for the Knights.
