HAYS, Kan. -- Donald Leslie Brown, 79, died Sunday (Jan. 16, 2005) at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan.
He was born Dec. 29, 1925, to Leslie and Vergie (Feaster) Brown in Rexford. He was raised in Rexford and attended school there.
He served during World War II with the Marine Corps.
On Oct. 20, 1946, he married Lois Guinn in Norton, Kan. He was employed as the Chief of Police in Oberlin and at Fort Hays State University.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois, in 1989; son, Alan; two brothers, Joseph and Raye Brown; and sister, Norma Lilly.
Survivors include sons, Kent Brown and wife, Connie of Topeka, Kan., Philip Brown and wife, Teresa of Gettysburg, Pa., and Eric Brown and wife, Janet of Belvue, Kan.; daughters, Vicki Corder and husband, Ed of Conrad, Mont., Donna Johnson and husband, Don of Hays, Gina Rafkin and husband, Scot of Lyons, Colo., Nancy Mahrer and husband, Al of Atkins, Iowa and Sally Lacy and husband, Mike of Hays; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin with the Rev. Christine Edwards officiating. Interment will be in Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday, 10 a.m., until service time.
Memorials may be given to the Donald L. Brown Memorial Fund.
