LEXINGTON -- The McCook High School freshmen boys and girls basketball games scheduled for Tuesday night at Lexington were postponed to Thursday.

The freshmen A games will be played at 5 p.m., followed by the sophomore games at 6:30 p.m.

The sophomore games were already slated for Thursday.

Tri-City Storm

hosts Omaha

Tuesday night

KEARNEY -- The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League will return to the Kearney Event Center for the first time since Dec. 7 when they host the Omaha Lancers at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.

The Storm has been on the road since a Dec. 7 game against Lincoln.

During that time the Storm has played six road games and accumulated a 3-3-0 record.

The Storm returned to action following the USHL's holiday break with New Year's Eve and New Year's Day games at Sioux City and Omaha.

The Storm defeated Sioux City 5-0 before falling to Omaha 6-3 on Saturday night.

The Storm is currently in fourth place in the West division with 35 points. Omaha leads the West with 44 points.

Tri-City's Stormy

missing in action

KEARNEY -- Following the Tri-City Storm's holiday break the team has announced that Stormy, the team's official mascot, has departed the Tri-City area unexpectedly.

Upon returning to the Kearney Event Center, team officials haven't been able to locate Stormy.

The team received word of Stormy's departure late last week and hasn't heard from the mascot since.

The team has received a few anonymous tips from people around the Tri-City area that say they saw the mascot heading out of the Tri-City area.

Team officials say they don't expect the mascot to be in attendance at Tuesday's game with Omaha.

Camps begin

next weekend

KEARNEY -- The University of Nebraska-Kearney baseball team will host a series of youth camps, beginning Sunday, Jan. 16.

Held in Cushing Coliseum and the Memorial Field batting cages, the camps are for ages eight to 16.

The camps are divided into pitching and hitting sessions and with each session costing $25 per player.

All camps are led by UNK coaches and players.

A series of camps will be conducted on Monday nights in February.

Camp # 1 - Hitting Camp, ages 8 to 12, noon-2:30 p.m.

Camp # 2 - Pitching Camp, ages 8 to 12, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Camp # 1 - Hitting Camp ages 13+ 4:30-7 p.m.

Camp # 2 - Pitching Camp ages 13+ 7-9 p.m.

Jan. 23 (Sunday)

Camp # 3 - Hitting Camp ages 8 to 12 noon-2:30 p.m.

Camp # 4 - Pitching Camp ages 8 to 12 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Camp # 3 - Hitting Camp ages 13+ 4:30-7 p.m.

The McCook YMCA is currently taking registrations for its upcoming Racquetball Tourney on Jan. 15-16.

The tournament will offer men's and women's singles, men's doubles and mixed doubles.

The cost for the tournament is $25 for the first event and $10 for each additional event.

Players can pick up registration forms at the YMCA or call 345-6228.

All mailed registrations must be postmarked by Jan. 6.

All other registrations must be turned into the YMCA by Jan. 10.

BLAIR --Dana College in Blair has released its Dean's List for the Fall 2004 semester.

In order to be eligible for the Dean's List, students must be enrolled as full-time students, have a minimum grade point average of 3.7 for the semesters and have no grade of C or below.

The following students from the women's soccer team have been named to the list:

Kiley Bair, a senior goalkeeper from Blair, majoring in elementary education with a minor in Spanish.

Heather Fischer, a freshman defender from Gretna, majoring in biology.

Amy Fullenkamp, a junior midfielder from Bellevue, majoring in business administration.

Michelle Glanz, a senior forward from Council Bluffs, Iowa, majoring in psychology.

Sara Gutzwiller, a senior goalkeeper from Council Bluffs, Iowa, majoring in sociology, social work and criminal justice.

Julia Peterson, a junior defender from Omaha, majoring in elementary/special education.

make Dean's List

BLAIR -- Dana College in Blair, has released its Dean's List for the Fall 2004 semester. The men's soccer team placed five players on the Dean's List.

In order to be eligible or the Dean's List, students must be enrolled as full-time students, have a minimum grade point average of 3.7 for the semester and have no grade of C or below.

These scholar-athletes included:

Aaron McGoldrick, a senior defender from Glenwood, Iowa, majoring in mathematics.

Brent Lorkovic, a junior midfielder from Council Bluffs, Iowa, majoring in business administration.

J.D. Hall, a junior forward from Ogallala, majoring in business administration.

Kelly Grant-Leanna, a sophomore midfielder from Omaha, majoring in business and computer science.

Shelby Bliss, a sophomore forward from Parkville, Mo., majoring in business administration.

The Viking men's soccer team finished its 2004 season 11-8-1, which was the best record in program history.

Tuesday vs.

Upper Iowa

KEARNEY -- The University of Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball team will host

Upper Iowa at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Health & Sports Center.

The Lopers (4-6, 3-0 RMAC), winners of three straight, haven't played since Dec. 18, a break of 16 days.

UIU, meanwhile, played Monday at RMAC-member Colorado School of Mines and had two games last week.

The Peacocks (4-9) are in the process of moving from NAIA to Division II and are 0-9 against Division II teams so far this season.

During its recent winning streak, UNK is allowing just 61.3 points per game and holding teams to 37 percent from the field.

UNK is also getting healthier as junior guard Jenny Harle (West Des Moines, Iowa) is set to return after missing the last seven games with a thigh injury.

Senior center Jenny Brown (Plesanton), a 6-foot-2 transfer from Oklahoma State and Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kan., recently joined the UNK rotation after missing the last year and half with a broken foot and broken hand.

The Lopers home stand continues this weekend when RMAC rivals Adams State and Fort Lewis visit.
