Making progress

Bruce Crosby/McCook Daily Gazette

A walk up West Third Street in McCook offers the opportunity to see two big public projects in progress. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's new field office headquarters (top) is fully enclosed, allowing interior work on the wooden structure to continue through the winter. The new North Ward Elementary building (above) requires extensive dirtwork, with much of the southwest corner of the lot excavated and much of the northeast corner built up. Photos like these will be the emphasis of the Gazette's annual progress edition, planned for February. If you have a photograph or an idea for a photograph of your business' progress for 2004, contact the McCook Daily Gazette, P.O. Box 1268, McCook NE 69001, editor@mccookgazette.com or cityed@ocsmccook.com.
