Doris Opal Stewart, 87, died Wednesday (Dec. 22, 2004) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
She was born July 28, 1917, to Orin and Opal (Troedson) Ely in Sutton.
On July 8, 1939, she married Dale E. Bridgmon. To this union two children, Ramona and Ronald, were born.
Prior to her illness, she was a member of the Nazarene Church. Her life exemplified love and ministry for the children.
After the death of her husband, Dale on Jan. 24, 1977, she married Daniel R. Stewart on Oct. 8, 1978. He passed away on July 24, 1985.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one brother, Curtis Ely; one sister, Elaine (Ely) Waterman; and one granddaughter, Rhonda Lynn Bridgmon.
Survivors include her children, Ramona Meazell and husband, Norman of Bethany, Okla., and Ronald Bridgmon and wife, Cheryl of McCook; five grandsons, DeWayne Harris of Trinidad, Colo., Brian Harris and wife, Nancy of McCook, Kevin Harris of North Platte, Douglas Harris and wife, Kara of Mechanicsberg, Penn., and Chris Bridgmon of McCook; two granddaughters, Susan Hartnett and husband, Chris of Meade, Kan., Kim Bridgmon of Kearney; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne Ely and wife, LaVern, Roger Ely and wife, Karen, and Kenneth Ely all of McCook; one sister, Margaret Verraneault and husband, Lionel of McCook; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Brandt) Ely of Turlock, Calif., and Ruth (Brandt) Bridgmon of McCook; and one brother-in-law, Merwin "Pepper" Waterman of Washington.
Memorials are being accepted in her name.
Funeral services are Monday, 10 a.m at Herrmann Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Karr officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
