OBERLIN -- Catharine L. Munson, 101, died Monday (Dec. 20, 2004) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

She was born Jan. 26, 1903, to Parry W. and Charlotte (Featherstone) Laport in Cottonwood Falls, Kan. She was raised in Cottonwood Falls and attended grade school there. She graduated from Chase County High School and attended Emporia Normal School in Emporia, Kan., for two years.

On Jan. 17, 1924, she married Willard D. Munson in Emporia. She was a homemaker. She lived in Madison, Have, Wichita, Canton, Nickerson and Mulvane, Kan., before moving to Oberlin in 1983.

She was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and PEO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard; two son, Myron J. "Mike" Munson and Roger D. Munson; granddaughter, Debra Munson; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Martha Munson of Oberlin and Joyce Munson of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, 10:30 a. m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be in Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and Thursday, 8 a.m., until service time.

Memorials may be given to Cottonwood Home Health, Golden Age Center or Decatur County Museum.
