NORTH PLATTE -- Glen Buker, 68, died Friday (Dec. 10, 2004) at his home in North Platte.

He was born March 3, 1936, to Guy S. and Della Castor Buker in Freedom. He graduated from Stockville High School in 1953.

On Aug. 18, 1957, he married Marilyn Roggensees in Curtis. In 1957, he started his career as a mechanic at the Chevrolet Garage in Curtis. He served in the Army from January 1961 until his discharge in December 1962. He came to North Platte and worked for Miller's Auto Repair and then owned and operated Glen's Auto Repair for many years. In 1977, he was a machinist for Big A Auto Parts until his illness.

He was a member of the IOOF, BPO Elks, Flatlanders Car Club, Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, PR Halligan Post No. 163 of American Legion and Eagles Aerie 2839.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Velda Lee and Virginia Slade; sister-in-law, Genevieve Roggensees; and his mother- and father-in-law.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of North Platte; daughter, Lanelle and husband, Nick Carlson of Fargo, N.D.; son, Gregg and wife, Kahle Lashelle Burker of North Platte; a brother, Gary and wife, Ila Buker of Panora, Iowa; sister, Gwendolyn and husband, Jim Straight of Woodbine, Iowa; five foster children; brothers-in-law, Louis and wife, Mary Roggensees of Clear Water, Fla., and Dean Roggensees of Storm Lake, Iowa; four grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be 5-7 p.m., Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.
