Bonnie June Lafferty, 78, died Saturday (Nov. 20, 2004) at Community Hospital of McCook.
She was born June 11, 1926, to Herbie and Clara (Wyatt) Watkins in Decatur County, Kan. She grew up in Decatur County and graduated from Oberlin High School in 1944.
On Aug. 2, 1945, she married Cecil Carl Lafferty in Oberlin. The couple spent their lives farming in Marion and Decatur County. For 17 years she was a custodian, librarian and teacher's aid at Marion Public Schools.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, George and Dean Watkins; and three sisters, Mable Vontz, Lenna Wonderly and Elfie Brown.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Lafferty of McCook; three sons, Donald Lafferty and wife, Linda of McCook, Lyle Lafferty and wife, LaVona of Scranton, Kan., and John Lafferty of Kearney; three daughters, Betty Florea and husband, Ralph of Hopkins, Mo., Susan Campbell and husband, Dennis of Lodi, Calif., and Sally Rowe and companion, Donn Topliff of Jewell, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. A private interment will be in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and until time of service.
