STRATTON -- Edith M. Robbins of Stratton, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 15 days.
She was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Vandergrift, Pa., to Edward and Beatrice (Griffiths) McArthur and attended school in Vandergrift. She graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1941. She went on to secretarial college and worked as a secretary for National Cash Register Co. for several years before working as a legal secretary.
On April 2, 1960, Edie, as she was lovingly called, was united in marriage to Daniel L. Robbins in Oakland, Calif., where they resided for more than 40 years.
Edie moved with her husband to Bay City, Mich., where they lived for several years before moving to Stratton to be closer to her brother and his wife.
Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Edie, knew she loved being around people. Visiting with her family, friends and neighbors were among her greatest treasures. She quickly formed lifelong friendships that stood the test of time and distance and cherished those friendships more than life itself. Edie was a kind, loving, gentle soul whose smile and laughter could light up a room. She was always quick to come to the aid of someone in need and eager to help in any way she could. She will be deeply missed by all who came to know her.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Edward and Beatrice McArthur; and her husband, Daniel Robbins who passed on May 28, 1998.
Survivors include her brother, Edward T. McArthur and his wife, Betty Jo of Stratton; as well as her "adopted" family, Larry "Fritz" Forch and wife, Charlene, Larry Forch, Jr., Tuesday Forch, Jyssica Forch and Adell Yingling, all of Stratton; as well as the other Forch families of Stratton.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, from 1-5 p.m. at Forch Funeral Chapel in Stratton. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery north of Stratton with Rev. Steve Kellett officiating. She will be laid to rest, next to her loving husband of more than 38 years, at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton.
