OBERLIN -- Charlotte Catherine Macfee, 92, died Friday (Nov. 5, 2004) at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

She was born Dec. 3, 1911, to Walter and Catherine (Sanders) Joyce in Clay County. She grew up in Harvard where she graduated from Harvard High School in 1930. She and her twin sister, Loretta, came to Southwest Nebraska where they taught school for several years.

On Oct. 28, 1936, she married Douglas Macfee in Glendale, Calif. They returned to Decatur County where they spent their lives farming.

She was a member of 4-H, the Liberty Star Club, the Sacred Heart Parish and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Dr. Gerald Macfee DVM in 1995; one grandson; 14 brothers; one sister; and one sister-in-law, Dixie Heinz.

Survivors include one son, Don Macfee and wife, Deb of Lebanon; two daughters, Claudine Bennett and husband, George of Cincinnati, Ohio, Pat Johnston and husband, Jim of Longview, Texas; daughter-in-law, Ann Macfee of McCook; sister-in-law, Mary Puelz of Victoria, Kan.; one brother, Joseph Joyce of Long Island, N.Y.; two sisters, Loretta Cappel of McCook and Rose Peter of Sutton; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial is Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in McCook.

The rosary will be recited Sunday, 7 p.m., at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook Saturday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
