HOXIE, Kan. -- Bertha "Betty" Sulzman, 95, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 2004) at Sheridan County Hospital in Hoxie, Kan.
She was born Feb. 7, 1909, to Frank and Martha (Fetcke) Zodrow in Sheridan County, Kan. She was raised in Sheridan County and attended school at Leoville Rural High School, graduating in 1926.
On June 25, 1926, she married William Sulzman. The couple farmed east of Selden. She was a teacher and a homemaker. After her husband's death, she moved to Colorado and then to McCook. Later she moved to Hoxie, Kan.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, in 1959; three sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include sons Don Sulzman and wife, Lilian of Dresden, Bob Sulzman and wife, Vivian of Monte Vista, Colo., Bill Sulzman of Colorado Springs, Colo., Frank Sulzman of Selden, Kan., Jim Sulzman of Selden, Colo.; and daughters Mary Lou Lard and husband, Jack of Denver, Colo., Jeanette Sulzman of Grand Island, Agnes Roberts and husband, Don of McCook, Virginia Sulzman of Littleton, Colo., Susanne Manley and husband, Wayne of Shawnee, Okla.; 32 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, 10 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. George Kochuvelikakkam officiating. Interment will be in Selden Cemetery in Selden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to the American Diabetes Association or to the family.
