Richard J. Crockett, 75, died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 2004) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born Dec. 5, 1928, in Elk City, Kan., to Ernest E. and Mattie M. (Martin) Crockett.
He entered the U.S. Armed Services Military Police in January of 1951 being stationed at Fort McAurther and was honorably discharged in February of 1953.
On Oct. 1, 1952 , he married Dorla Spellmeyer at Salome, Ariz. To this union three children were born, Ronda, Robbin and Tammy. Richard was a dairy farmer and large equipment operator prior to becoming a long haul truck driver for Universal Transport Incorporated for many years. He retired in 1993 and had been living in Palisade with his daughter and family at the time of his death.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Lloyd, Jack and Lawrence; and two sisters, Hazel and Pat.
Survivors include his son, Robbin Crockett and wife, Debbie of Woodland Park, Colo.; two daughters, Ronda Bromley of Meeker, Colo., and Tammy Bosarge and husband, Mack of Palisade; one sister, Grace Willis of LaCross, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A private service will be in Walden, Colo., at a later time.
Memorials may be given in his name to the American Lung Association.
